The majority of the teachers care about their students, but are clearly overworked and understaffed. A notable chunk also happen to be coaches who focus more of their attention on their athletes than the other students they also teacher.

Within recent years, more resources have become available for higher achieving students. More AP classes, SAT and ACT prep, as well as classes that teach important life skills like financing and home maintenance.

I would say the school is as best it can be for the area. The teachers are trying their best, it's the administration and lack of funding from the state that is at fault for where FDSH is falling behind. Many smart kids will manage here, and the teachers will do what they can to ensure they get what they need to achieve despite the occasional lack in resources.

Provided me with opportunity, but could have done much better. There were many in school opportunities including sports, music, and academics. However, there was more to be offered within the state of Iowa that Fort Dodge did not participate in or reach out about. There was also not sufficient college preparation. There could have also been better inclusive behaviors at Fort Dodge. Diversity and Inclusion training would serve the entire school district well. Especially the High School. Food was very underwhelming and hardly healthy.
I have recently just started in at the Fort Dodge High School. The school has been very welcoming to new students, and was able to work with my extra classes I had at my old school. I have to admit I was scared to come back here, but when I met my teachers I felt more comfortable. Teachers at the Fort Dodge High School will take time to work with you one on one and take time in the morning and after school to help you with your work. Fort Dodge High School has many different clubs you can join and if they don't have a club you like you can create one yourself. They have many ways to get involved with students and students to get involved in other activities. They have many classes that help us prepare for life ahead of us, and many ways to help us to get into colleges, such as college visits, little scholarships, or TRIO.
