I have been at Flagstaff Arts and Leadership Academy (FALA) since 8th grade. This school has incredible teachers and staff, a great community, and excelent art programs. Teachers at FALA are supportive and invested in what they teach. When I was in 9th grade I was dreading taking biology, but because of the teacher that year, biology has become one of my absolute favorite subjects. Classes here are centered around how students learn best and how thay will gain the most from a course. The arts programs here (visual art, dance, theater, and music) are amazing. Through participating in them I have had so many opportunities to perform in the community and engage with all sorts of artists. Teachers at FALA beleive that the best way to educate students in the arts is through experience, which has helped me become much more comfortable performing and showing my art. The community at FALA is incredibly accepting and supportive.
Flagstaff Arts & Leadership Academy (FALA) is an arts school located in Flagstaff, Arizona. In my experience, this school has done a great job at providing its students with a variety of arts classes in visual arts, theater, music, and dance. It has undergone many changes throughout my time attending, and it’s been interesting to watch it change and develop into what it is now. I am a strong advocate for mental health awareness, and if I were able to change one thing about FALA, I would attempt to allocate more resources to mental health counseling. As a student that has struggled to find the mental health help that I need while at school, it would be amazing to see others be able to quickly find help in the future.
I transferred to Flagstaff Arts and Leadership Academy from Coconino Highschool before my junior year started. FALA had everything I could have ever imagined. The only issue was the courses; the electives were mixed with all ages. I was more on the advanced side of things was being held back while I waited for the rest of my peers to catch up. Although that was kinda lame, the people there are wonderful and the teachers are great. I learned a lot when it came to my core classes but not much when it came to my electives.
