I have been in the first Academy of Leesburg since preschool. I have made so many amazing connections from being at the school, and so many life long friends.
In terms of actual learning, First Academy has a lot of good teachers who do a good job of teaching. However, the schools have plenty of restrictions placed on students in general. It does make sense, considering it is a K-12 school, and everyone in the school is able to affect the other to a certain degree, so in order to make sure people aren't getting a bad influence, restrictions must be placed. The school does try to give people a good and safe learning environment, but at the same time, some things may feel a bit over-the-top. At the end of the day, it has it's good and bad sides, just like any other school.
I did not enjoy my time here. The main problem was with the culture of the school. The students here were not very welcoming unless you looked, acted, or thought like them and their families. It was very easy to feel ostracized. I did not realize how sad going to the school made me until I left. I personally was not bullied very much, but I know many that were, and the school did not do anything about it unless you were related to one of the staff members. Nasty Anti-Semitic remarks to a classmate were left unaddressed after being brought to administrators. On the other hand, the majority of the teachers here (with the exception of only a few), greatly enhanced my experience at First Academy. It was apparent that those teachers really cared about their students and helping them learn as much as possible.
I enjoy First Academy and plan on returning as a teacher after college. The school has a very safe and welcoming environment and it's clear that the teachers really care about their students.
I loved most of the teachers at my school. I could tell that they really cared about their students, and they were always willing to help. The school is run by good people. However, my time at First Academy was not very happy. I was not pushed to grow at all, and I felt stifled. While, yes, I know it is a Christian school, the Baptist worldview was extended to many of my subjects. Now that I am at a new, more rigorous school, I feel that I'm behind my peers, especially in science. At First Academy, we're not taught to consider other viewpoints... even though the administration will do everything in their power to pretend that we are. When I was in middle school, the history textbooks called Mandela a Communist, Freud's ideas were evil, and that it was religious persecution to stop teaching Christianity in public schools. This is not how history should be taught. This is not how children should be educated.
I love the atmosphere and friendliness of the school. Everyone is kind to each other and is always smiling.
My overall experience with First Academy has been, overall, average. One thing I like about First Academy is the education and readiness for college. There are a few things that I would like to see improvement on, and one of them is the bullying. Every school has their issues with bullying, but for such a small school to not have a handle on it especially in high school, that is concerning.
Very amazing school, the relationships you make with teachers to students is out of this world. Also the smaller class size makes for even better connections with your classmates, it created friendships you’ll carry for life. The school’s safety has improved more and more with having key cards to get into all the buildings which is a lot safer with not having fences around the school. Academics are great.
Great Christian teaching and the staff is wonderful, howvever, the staff yet seems to turn the other cheeck when kids get bullied such as my child has been the last couple years and they do nothing about that sort of thing. They have their favorites and it's and an "all in who you know" and who is freinds with who in order to fit in at that school.
Been there for years getting very expensive and it seems administers care more about numbers and dollars than students
First Academy is small and is life changing putting Christ first. I would change the athletics by only offering a few not such a variety so the school will have more opportunities with more kids in on a team. Also prepare them for college better.
I loved it! Great School and staff! Very proud to have attended there! I would definitely recommend to everyone! 10 out of 10 for every category listed!
While attending First Academy, I have realized just how lucky the students are to be going there. Not all schools and students have the opportunity to grow in Christ each and every day. Throughout the years, I have noticed my relationship with the Lord getting stronger. The teachers there are also very committed to both their jobs and their students. Whenever the teachers see the students slightly falling back in a certain lesson, they make sure that they do everything in their power to get the student back on track by offering free tutoring after school. There is nothing in this school that I would like to change other than tuition prices.
First Academy is a great school that offers more than just education. Students, teachers, parents, and faculty are all FAmily. The school really cares about their students with education, support in sports and other clubs, and offer many opportunities for each individual to grow mentally, physically, and spiritually. The school is a college-prep school as well, providing AP classes and allowing their students to dual enroll as early as 10th grade. My experience at First Academy has been amazing!
First Academy is like another family. With the most kind hearted faculty you could ask for. They're not only preparing us for our academic futures, but also for real world experiences.
First Academy-Leesburg High School is an excellent school to go to. There are various factors that make First Academy-Leesburg High School to be one of the best high school that I have ever been in, as described in the next sentence. College readiness, school culture, academics, and the involvement of teachers in students' lives are the significant ones that make me fall in love with the school. First Academy-Leesburg High school is rather a small private Christain school, so I have gotten to know a lot of people in the school ranging from little kindergarten kids to big high-school senior kids. We have learned a lot from each other and strive our best efforts to be the mirror for one another. The teachers from the facility are more than asking for. They are very helpful and encouraging. They assist every student through any hardship situations not because they have to but because they want to be the part in every student's life. I am blessed in be a part of the FAmily.
At First Academy Leesburg, both the staff and students are incredibly welcoming. I was a newcomer in 8th grade, and they immediately made me feel like part of the FA family. The students and teachers also have personal relationships, something you simply can't find at a generic public school. Being able to hang out with teachers at sports events, discuss what's on my mind, and even text them for extra homework help has made all the difference in my learning experience at FA Leesburg. Academics aside, the school has an enormous amount of school spirit. Students are encouraged to cheer on their peers at the various sports events held at the school, as well as play on the teams. From spirited pep rallies to welcoming peers, First Academy Leesburg is a place for students to thrive.
