I was an instrumental major at LaGuardia and graduated in 2016. I also took some art classes at the school. I absolutely loved it there! I learned more in those for years at LaGuardia than I had ever learned. I was surrounded by peers who had the same goals and interests as I did, which motivated me to improve with my art (weather it be music or visual arts). LaGuardia really prepared me for college because the work load was high; every student had to juggle a rigorous academic program along with their "major" program--concerts, rehearsals, art shows, and many other responsibilities. Because of the Advanced Placement courses available, I entered college with twenty credits.
In short, LaGuardia is still a great school to go to, especially if a student is focused and truly has a passion for the arts.

I am currently a senior drama major and I very much enjoy the range of AP classes that Laguardia has offered me. Although teachers vary in personality and how much they will challenge you- it is a quality education overall. As long as you are focused on what you want out of high school, you WILL get what you want out of your time here at Laguardia. It is ridiculous the superfluous amount of seniors who have received their EA/ED's from Ivy League Colleges! For the Drama Department itself, I love it. It is the most tight knit major at Laguardia and it has really helped me foster relationships with friends. I have no intention of majoring in Drama, but I could not imagine life without participating in a production or club. If you don't get in the first time, I strongly urge you to reapply for sophomore year. If the arts is something you love and are passionate about, Laguardia is the place to learn about it. I hope this has been helpful.
I could honestly say that I'm having a great time at LaGuardia thus far. Being around such talented and intelligent students inspires me to further pursue both my creative and academic endeavors. I feel that I've experienced so much growth both as an actor and a person that I would not have experienced anywhere else. The school could do a better job of promoting diversity through its various public events such as the all-school musical and the SDF (Spring Drama Festival) productions. Even though the administration still needs to work on being more inclusive and attentive to the needs of the student body, there is still a strong foundation that allows students to fully immerse themselves in the creative, friendly vibes of the school.
