During my time there, the teachers I had were kind, understanding, and knowledgeable about their respective fields. The classes were about 45 minutes each and a full school day ends at 4:00. You get to choose your classes from when you are a sophomore till when you are a senior. The graduating classes are big so if you like big schools then this is for you!
In my time at LaGuardia, I have learned and grown so, incredibly much. As a drama student, you are constantly surrounded with people who support you and are so willing to help you grow. I have found a real home at LaGuardia, and it is an amazing place for young artists to find their true calling.
The teachers are incredibly supportive and very present in their students' learning process. Most of the artistic and academic faculty members try to make their students feel comfortable and safe in the school environment. The best part about LaGuardia is how ready the teachers are to listen to their students, and find ways teach and interact with them using methods that will be most productive.
LaGuardia High School has some of the best artistic direction (as a high school) in the city of New York. The acting training program is intensive and is amazing preparation for college and a future in the arts!

LaGuardia High School has its perks and its downfalls. The art field is quite extraordinary at this school as one would think since it is in the name. The amount of performances and shows the students put on in our school is truly wonderful. The creativity fills the halls as you hear vocal students singing in the staircases practicing for their operetta or drama students in the basement going over their scene work with their peers. Unfortunately the diversity is a bit of an issue here in both the population of teachers and students. Majority of the school are white and at times those of a different race can feel oppressed. I do believe the school is working to change this but I am worried that they are working far too slowly to notice any change. Nonetheless, I still admire my school and the numerous possibilities/resources I have available to me.
