My son is a kindergartener and we could not be more pleased with Fernbank. His teacher does an amazing job of making learning fun. She is sensitive to the needs of very young students and they have a lot of time to learn through playing. Our son is an emerging reader and I do not feel that she pressures students to do things they are not ready for, but does challenge them daily. The PTA and Foundation are very supportive. My son's class has already had two field trips this year, which I am certain would not have been possible without monetary support from these groups. Fernbank is part of the Healthy Schools Initiative, which means no cupcakes and sugary birthday snacks, but also means that they have recess every day, in addition to PE. This is something every school in our county does not get.
