I love the close environment with the teachers. It feels like the teachers that you associate with really want to help you grow and develop your education. There are excellent classes that advance your knowledge of certain topics to a college ready benchmark! Felicity is a very safe environment where anyone can learn and develop as they choose without the threat of bullying or other hinderances. There is even a computer for every student so that they can excel their academic success. With recent tech grants, Felicity also bought 3D printers so that student creativity can grow on the scale of larger schools with larger funding. Felicity is an all around great school for anyone and the faculty do a fantastic job!
My experience at Felicity-Franklin High School has definitely been one to remember. Being right in the middle of a small rural town in Southwest Ohio there really isn't much going on, but one thing this school does a good job of is making you feel like you matter. With an average grade size of 50-60 students, the faculty knows almost every single kid by first and last name. On top of that, every kid from grades 9-12 knows one another on a first-name basis as well. This really makes you feel like you are part of a community and that you mean something to someone in the school, this is something that I think bigger schools struggle with and it makes me happy to know I got to experience that feeling in my life. On the other hand, some critiques that I have about this school are that it can be very hard to put in extra work sometimes. This goes for both academics and sports.
We have an incredible FFA chapter and some great teachers. However, we lack the necessary accessibility to AP/IB and CCP in order to succeed in elite colleges. Even talented students have little to no chance to go to prestigious colleges where they could network. We also lack diversity in classes with too few subject options in addition to the issue of AP availability. Students are so limited in their options and it is unfair; students here can work hard every single day and yet still find so many opportunities out of reach.
