Farmington High is an interesting school. In many aspects it’s amazing! But in more than a few it’s not so great. Counselors don’t reach out to parents. Some staff are amazing at their jobs while others don’t focus on the students. With high school these days and at any time really, it’s about a child’s mental health. If it’s not in the right place than their grades aren’t going to be in the best spot. Some teachers also need to understand students don’t all learn the same way or at the same pace. Yes high school is meant to prepare us for the “real world” but how are we to do that when we can’t learn what we need because we learn differently?

Farmington has been a great place to connect with my academic passions. With the high levels of flexibility that the school has grown into, I’ve been able to enhance my learning just that much more. Though, I’ve repetitively seen the issue of students being overly stressed. Teachers and counselors always say that they are available in those times, and most of them truly are, but there are a number that take longer than needed to reach back to a student.
The diversity inclusion is also an issue. There’s a good population of racial, sexuality, religious, etc. minorities within the school, but the outreach and connections being made are still in the beginning growing phases.
One more thing, Farmington is constantly growing. There have been many issues that are experienced by students, but most are corrected. I think what really makes this school special is the heavy emphasis on technology and flexibility. With a lot of self work, I’m not reliant on having points handed to me.
My experience at Farmington High School was average. The school spirit exerted by students and staff was immaculate! Some of the teachers on the other hand, not as great. One of my previous teachers would play Xbox in class and overall didn't enhance my learning.
