Falls Church High School, along with other schools in FCPS Region 2 (Annandale and Justice, mainly) get a bad reputation throughout the county. However, I do not believe that being at Falls Church ever put me at a disadvantage academically or socially. With a wide variety of AP/Honors courses to take, one of the largest Student Leadership programs in the county, and a racially, socio-economically, and intellectually diverse student body that facilitates many different student organizations. The administration does there very best to connect with the many different types of students in the building; ultimately, having a body of general-education students coexist with a large population of ESOL students, as well as students with intellectual and developmental disabilities, is extremely important to much of the student body. Falls Church may not be the most beautiful building (though it is slated for renovation!), but it is an great environment to get a high school education in.
I have not had the best experience in Falls Church High school. You can succeed in this school fairly well. I cannot complain about the academics here very much. They are the best thing the school offers. It has a variety of caring and willing teachers that will try their best to make sure you learn as much as you are willing to. The students here are what make this place a lot less enjoyable. If it were possible to change anything about this school, it'd be the students here. This small high school would be almost perfect if the kids were better people. Of course there is still a small handful of great kids that are enrolled here. Find and befriend them for the best experience!
What I liked about Falls Church High School is really the community. The community was very welcoming and sports community was an amazing experience. I joined the volleyball community and it was very welcoming and fun and just had a great time. There is many clubs to join with a diversity in every club. Academics s very important here to the majority of the students. We want to be ready for adulthood and life on our own. There's some things that didn't go well which is like trying to get close with my teachers and some the mix of students was odd at first. As a freshman from a different school that the majority didn't feed into, I was welcomed by upper classmates easier than the people in my grade. You find it easier to get along with someone older since most people in your grade already have their friend groups tightly closed.
