Fairview High School Reviews
Rating 4.03 out of 5 460 reviews
Although I've only been a part of the Fairview High School community for a few months, I have been connected to the people here since childhood. Since stepping into this school, I feel encouraged and pushed to achieve excellence and I feel well-supported and well-prepared for my future academic pursuits. The teachers are awesome and we are basically the best in the state for everything. Sko knights!
I'm part of Fairview's Class of 2023. As others will tell you, Fairview is a national leader in academics, and athletics. It really is impressive to think of the capability of students here. However, the culture at Fairview is not what I would describe as a national leader. For a few years and different administrations, it's struggled with sexual assault allegations and lawsuits among various students in the student body. With a new administration, hopefully these incidents will slowly cease to be a part of the culture. On another note, students in the IB and AP programs at Fairview have been conditioned to be extremely competitive, and the teachers have been pressured by administration and the high-strung community to make their courses excessively stressful. While there are good teachers, good students, good administrators, and a good deal of success at Fairview, it can be difficult to see against the cultural backdrop.
Fairview is a good school, filled with kind staff whom many are relatable. The janitorial staff is friendly and they care, along with cafeteria staff and security guards. All the staff seem like they want to make a connection with students, but admin can be a bit strange at times wanting to keep control of the students while trying to be relatable and it strikes many as strange. The education you receive is quite good, every teacher I’ve had was very motivated and tried to share that with their students. However, there are faults of the school especially with scandals a few years ago and the drama that can arise from having thousands of students, while the one major complaint is the expectations, as this is a very high preforming school students can and will feel the pressure of expectations placed by peers, teachers and parents.
