Many amazing teachers and connections to be made! Sometimes play a game of portraying how diverse and great Fairport is, when it's not quite the case. Nevertheless a strong community, although bubbled, clicky and suburban. Wonderful opportunities if you are able to take advantage of them, but without a doubt more can be done to connect students with the tools and environments they need to succeed and feel belonging. A positive feeling, but again certain costs as well.
My experience at Fairport the last couple years has been great. Most of the teachers were kind and always willing to stay after to help go over a test or homework questions that I didn’t understand. They helped me get the grades I have now. The faculty made it so we all feel safe and heard. The worst part of high school is the sports. There are people that really get into sports and are disrespectful to other around them. I played basketball for the school but it really affected my mental health so I stopped after sophomore year. Now I play CYO basketball for a church. And I am love it, but the school sports could have been better.
The best part about my experience is the welcoming and family-like environment as well as the diversity within the community. I feel as though I have been well equipped and prepared for my future by my amazing teachers and administrators and have learned many life lessons and skills from my experiences in clubs and sports.
The worst part of my experience is living so far away from my school. As an Urban Suburban student, I live in the city while attending a suburban school, which has hindered many of my experiences.
