Excelsior Charter School has given my two children the preparation and platform to soar like eagles. Unlike most high schools, offering their students college prep classes to get the "idea" of what college will be like; Excelsior gives approved students the opportunity to actually attend college classes, for credit that applies to their Associate's Degree. Not only does the staff at Excelsior support its students in making sure they are learning the materials on campus; they also encourage duel enrollment, and help 1:1 to assess their progress toward their individual plan for academic success. When I first moved to the desert I wondered what good could come of it. Now there's no question, finding Excelsior was the blessing in it. I felt so strongly about how wonderful it is, that I did not change their school when we moved an hour away; and have driven them to and from class through snow, fog, and rain for the past five years. I wouldn't change a thing. My children are soaring!

I adore Excelsior! I have been there since the 7th grade and am now a graduating senior! Their staff is very dedicated, willing to go above and beyond for their students. I felt empowered by my teachers and peers. The principal, Mrs. Lee, also loves her students and loves to listening to all of our ideas.

My only complaint is their discipline process. I had an issue where I was helping a student with their homework since I had the class and she did not. A security guard accused us of cheating and no one heard us out. They immediately tried to suspend us which would have dropped us from our classes. If they fix how they handle certain situations, I would completely recommend all to enroll their children!

If I had to choose, I would do it all over again. This school helped me discover myself and the facilitators will always be in my memories.
Excelsior is an EXCELLENT high school, truly! No fights or bullying, wonderful and involved teachers, great arts programs. Pep rallies are frequent in the MPR. Affordable and frequent school events. Lots of shows from band and choir throughout the year. Only complaint is that sometimes there’s a bit more workload than most public schools, but facilitators are happy to help you work through it!

You can choose to have classes online or sign up for on campus “workshops”. There’s also study workshops for each subject if you need extra help. Very very supportive of LGBT+ and special needs students.

Students can organize their own clubs and have them overseen by a teacher for regular meetings, and everyone’s quite helpful to each other.
