Everglades High School Reviews
Rating 3.61 out of 5 784 reviews
During my attendance at Everglades something that I think improved my overall comfortability as a student was its vast diversity. Here you will find individuals from various socio-economic backgrounds. Thus, I never felt isolated and/or alone. Something else that I enjoyed was how much the staff wants you to succeed. If you are failing a class, administration will make sure to notify your parents, to ensure that students are on track. Alongside this, most teachers are flexible with their work and will check on the wellbeing of students. However, I think that the school overall is lacking in school spirit, causing attendance here to become boring overtime. Academically, Everglades is lacking in the AP classes that they offer compared to neighboring schools. Finally, I think that Everglades does not prioritize and/or uplift those who participate in academic extracurriculars as much as they do the individuals that participate in sports.
The best parts of the school are definitely the types of clubs and activities they have to offer. For homecoming, there is an event called PowderPuff where all students of every grade can participate in. It is supposed to engage the students with the school more and hype them up for the upcoming homecoming football game. The school also offers plenty of amazing programs such as the Cambridge program that gives students a chance to earn a full bright futures scholarship at the end of of it. I definitely recommend it for any student who is dedicated enough for it. One bad quality I would have to mention is the lack of some courses that I hear other schools have such as the Cambridge course for Biology, but I’ve heard that they are implementing that class in this year or the next so I know that they are trying to improve this.
Everglades High is a good opportunity for students wanting higher quality education in a diverse environment. As a Cambridge student at Everglades, I was provided with decent resources while pursuing my diploma in addition to my high school diploma. There are many extracurriculars at EHS and students are of course encouraged to add to the list. However, I will mention that there are a couple of teachers who teach higher-level classes that simply do not teach. But that is a risk at most schools. EHS also has fights quite frequently resulting in many unnecessary assemblies.
