I thought there was no way I was going to graduate from high school. The teachers at Eva were the best teachers I ever had. They took an interest in me and wanted to make sure that I understood. They were super patient! I am applying for colleges now and I am so much more confident in school.
Working in this business is very tough, but Eva Carlston Academy makes it look easy. They get these girls to live better lives than they did before. Of course, it's hard and every girl goes through some hard points but that's how life is. They get these girls back on track in school and in life. They come out of Eva Carlston with high school experience and are even able to go to college if that's what they want to do. I have seen so many girls graduate and become strong independent women. I am so glad that I am part of the Eva Carlston Team
it was sad and disrespectfull to people i hate you guys . people cry every because of all of you guys. you all should be ashamed of what you are doing why would you eve work in a place like that. And kisses to all of the bots reviewing how much did they cost.
Nightmares and panic attacks are commonplace among my friends after having left. No matter how girls who were there behaved, they left with regrets. The girls who spoke out against the program regretted doing so because it lengthened their stay and lead to shaming and being ostracized, while girls who cooperated felt like they lost themselves because they weren't speaking their truth. To me, this demonstrates how this place is toxic from top to bottom - the only way girls could feel like no matter how they behaved they were doing something wrong is if the treatment center operates around shaming them. Communication with parents is restricted and constantly monitored - I've seen and heard of girls doing things like self-harm and starving themselves just to be able to go to the hospital so they could tell their parents the truth about how they were being treated without fear of repercussions.
It’s incredible that a facility like this is allowed to operate. This type of behavioral conditioning as a form of residential treatment has never been studied, researched, or tested. How can the people running this program claim it has any sort of effectiveness?
Eva Carlston is a company that provides opportunity for growth for their clients and also employees. There is always something to learn and each day feels different, goal oriented, and fulfilling in its own way. I appreciate having a job where I get to support youth as they discover themselves and become a stronger version of themselves. Seeing youth build confidence in who they are and their ability to not let a traumatic event(s) define their life is truly rewarding. Especially knowing that I got to contribute to that growth myself! These youth work so hard, and so do their families through this process and I feel privileged to be a part of their journey. This is what has made me stay with Eva Carlston for so long. The work we do truly saves lives and families.
Eva Carlston Academy provides a safe learning environment for students. They cater well to academic accommodations and the teachers are very mindful of these. The teachers are dedicated to helping each student. The students are able to participate in fun academic activities outside the classroom a few times a month. The teachers are patient with their students and teach them important life skills while also focusing on academics. The administration does well with academic and classroom placement. Class sizes are small which allow for more one on one time with teachers.
Our daughter was a resident at Eva Carlston Academy. This program appears to be terrific but our daughter came out of the program deeply traumatized. This is a punishment based program, to an extreme. The students are consistently underfed (our daughter was rail thin upon graduation and developed an eating disorder after learning to ignore her hunger signals for a year). The educational component is mediocre. Some therapists were good but the milieu was profoundly harmful and deeply negative. The students live in a constant state of fear and don't tell their parents the truth because they are afraid of further punishment.
I work in the Academic department and find my job so rewarding, challenging (in a good way), and I enjoy every moment of it. From the moment I took the position I have looked forward to coming to work to be surrounded by the best staff and some pretty remarkable girls! It has been such a treat to watch girls come and grow from the things that they learn here and then have them go back out into the world on their next adventure. I have always felt so supported by my boss and other Directors. There has been great opportunities for me to continue to learn and grow in my position. Eva Carlston is an amazing place to work.
Horrible place with deep corruption issues and disturbing underlying religious themes. Staff do not have the girls' best interests in mind.
Eva Carlston helped our daughter and our family immensely and I am so thankful every day for the program and the very talented, committed staff of Kristi, the therapists, family teachers and academic teachers--literally everyone there. My daughter went to wilderness and then to Eva Carlston. She did not want to be there at first. She fully admits it helped her so much, she made lifelong friends, and she is living the difference. Yes, there are bumps in the road but there is no way she'd be where she is today without Eva Carlston.
Over a year ago, I willingly came into this program depressed, anxious, and suffering from an eating disorder and dissociative identity disorder (the latter was, at the time, undiagnosed) — no behavioral problems. Despite the fact that the program was created to help adolescents with behavioral issues, I was forced to stay for an entire year. The program manipulated my parents into trusting them over their own daughter.
I have seen girls ask staff for emotional support and be rejected, being told that there were more important things for the student to do. I have gotten in trouble for having a panic attack when I should have been doing chores. The staff’s job is to keep us safe, and emotional safety is just as important as physical safety, especially in a mental health program.
The only part of this program that was helpful was the individual therapy. The rest of it was not only unhelpful for me but harmful and traumatic.

I really didn't want to be at Eva Carlston. My parents made me go for treatment. There are some things that I didn't like about it, but I thought it was cool that they were finally able to make school work for me and I was able to get the accommodations I needed. I thought that being in treatment would probably mean I couldn't go to the college I wanted, but they helped me through some pretty crappy times, and I was able to get accepted into Westminster College and have been loving it!
I loved attending Eva Carlston Academy. We did activities, project, art, learned to cook, photography, and so much more. I enjoyed making friends. It was nice to learn skills that I could take with me.
Eva Carlston Academy has been nothing but good to our family and our daughter. We were at a loss of what to do, until we spoke with Eva Carlston and the staff there. They kindly walked us through every step and helped our daughter adjust.
As a team member at Eva Carlston Academy, I have enjoyed getting to know students that have struggled in their home and school environments but that have thrived at Eva Carlston. Having to be in treatment is difficult, for both the student and family, but I find myself in awe of the girls at Eva Carlston as they learn to implement and hone social and emotional skills, strengthen their self-esteem and develop their sense of identity. I'm proud to be a part of a program that fosters the growth and success of bright, determined and independent young women.
Through an educational consultant, we found Eva Carlston Academy and have loved it. Our daughter tells us nothing but good things about her treatment and she especially has found a love for their fine arts program! I recommend this school if you are looking for an "all encompassing" program for your child.
I've been involved with the Eva Carlston academic program for almost a decade now. First thing you need to know, this is a school program with live teachers that is associated with a residential therapy program. The kids who participate in this school don't usually want to be here. But in this structured environment, they finally get the direction they need. It is a tough challenge, but I have seen Eva Carlston consistently step up to the challenge. Particularly, the small class sizes and attention to the individual needs of each student is impressive to me. I enjoy working in the leadership team, and particularly take pride in seeing so many kids who were struggling in their home schools learn to love learning again.
It’s a living nightmare there. I was held there for 8 months. You weren’t allowed To cry, you do hard labor all day, and it’s emotionally scarring. This place is worse than prison. They starve you and there’s not even a radio to listen to music.
The school is all online and they don't teach you anything.
During the winters we spent hours shoveling show every day. The staff would usually not help us shovel. I remember being taken out of classes during a blizzard and being forced to shovel the unnecessarily long driveway. It was cold and I was trying to graduate high school so I was annoyed to say the least. But hey! We weren’t allowed to "complain" or else we'd be in even more trouble. I feel as though a lot of the staff were power tripping and could’ve cared less about creating a nurturing environment.
Don't go here please. It makes me really sad that this place is still open and continues to take money from people that really need help. The school is all online and they made you
