A really great school, it helped build up my professional portfolio and gave every student the opportunity to have a peek at what kinds of careers there are to choose from! Practicing interviews also known as the students' "Portfolio Days" guided us on what to do and expect for interviews in a professional setting, which honestly helped me to get my first job after my junior year! Besides that, I loved the medical academy they have because the teachers who specify in teaching medical-related subjects have had experience working in the field. Another thing about Duncan that's pretty cool was the AFJROTC program, if I wouldn't have joined it I wouldn't be as social and semi-leaderlike as I am today. My only problem with the school was the favoritism behavior in the school with teachers towards a few students, which honestly wasn't fair. And I would love if we had more clubs and sports, but I understood since it was a polytechnical school.
Although Duncan is a small school, there are plenty of student and and staff to help me around school. Duncan is a magnet school meaning that you would have to apply to go to there. The main reasons why so many people choose to go to Duncan is because of there two programs, Medical Academy of Science and Health (MASH) and Innovative Design and Applied Technology Academy (IDATA). Both programs lets us student have hands-on experiences to be more prepared for the work force. The school starts the students off right away with teaching them how important professionalism is. In addition to that, Duncan also has a school wide project for all students called Portfolio. It is like an interview, where they would invite real people in the industry that the students are working in to interview the students. This is not something that the students work on alone and the teachers helps the students with the project.
Duncan is an amazing school that holds many valuable characteristics. The teachers, the students and the other staffs are people that are very supportive and make the school environment feel like a second home. At Duncan it is very easy to walk or get around the school so most of the people there knows each other. The pathways that Duncan provide is something that I enjoy having because in class we get to do hands on activities and learn about many skills that we were not aware of. Throughout the years that I have been with Duncan I really loved it here because I have friends and teachers that I know will always be there to support not only me but all the students who may need help. Duncan is a school that pushes students to do good in their classes and prepare them for the work field that they are pursuing. Lastly, I can't wait to go in the new building that they constructed this year which is almost finished and enjoy the space that comes with it; I will for sure come back to visit.
