Erie High School provided me with exactly what I expected to see in a high school. I felt that faculty and most students were all very kind and helpful, and overall we have a culture based around respect and hard work. In terms of academics, I believe Erie High is very strong. We consistently turn out high test scores and offer AP, engineering, and community college courses. We unfortunately have very poor diversity, with a major of this school being white, middle class students. Our teachers are almost all excellent, and I hav not had one I genuinely disliked. I feel that Erie has prepared me well for college. Unfortunately, Erie does not offer a huge variety of clubs outside of sports.
At Erie High School every student is given the opportunity to explore any of their interests. Teachers, staff, and students are all equally supportive. Experiences like volunteer work, clubs, sports, and innovation centers, are places where students are given a full chance in education.
This is a school with enough kids to have many programs and ideas but still lacks the specific targeting of those being hurt. Those being bullied, harassed, and pushed around because they aren’t the same as the majority of the school: straight, white, or a boy. There is a lot of things that Erie High School does well but handling bad behavior that influences young teenagers for the rest of not only their educational experience but also life, is not.
