Due to the Covid pandemic we used Epic for PreK & K. Our child thrived but we were concerned about the lack of social interactions and classroom structure. We live in one of the best districts in the state and decided to send our child to the local public school the next year. Huge mistake! Although friends were made and pe, music, etc were great, our child was so far ahead that nothing being taught was anywhere close to his level. After conversations with staff, we realized in comparison to Epic, the local school was more like a big daycare and only focused on bringing the children up to being “on level.” For students who were above that, they just were not given the challenges and attention they deserved. So we switched back to Epic. Immediately our child thrived again. The individualized attention and lesson plans absolutely have made a huge difference. With added weekly in person classes now any previous concerns are gone. For children needing something more, I highly recommend!
The main thing that I do not like about epic is the fact that I do not meet any of the students that I am in class with. I am graduating this year and only know of one person that I will recognize out of 2,000+ teens that will be there. I wish that we were assigned to groups of teens that live in our area that we can meet up with and get to know our classmates. On the other hand, I really enjoy certain aspects of Epic. Due to the fact that there is a wide variety of curriculums to choose from you and your parents work with your teacher to pick what method works best for you! I have had the opportunity to graduate early and continue to keep a 4.0 GPA because of Epic. I get to take concurrent enrollment and
My experience with this school was amazing. I had to transition from attending a public school to being homeschooled. The teacher I had was very helpful and welcoming. Attending this school and with the support of my teacher, I graduated with Principles Honor Roll.
