What I liked about Environmental Charter High School is that the teachers prepare their students for college. Although the reduced lunches were not my cup of tea, the academic background provided for the students is great. The policy that every student must follow annually, in order to graduate is to be accepted into a four year university. Not only are the students mentally challenged to get into a four year university, they are preparing for the real world of living independently with little to no help from their parents. I thank Environmental Charter High School for preparing me for college because without the rigorous courses and teaching methods, I would not have been prepared for the college experiences that I have surpassed already.

The number one thing I personally like about Environmental Charter High School is the college readiness support they offer to each and every one of their students. Throughout my experiences at this high school I always received the college readiness support I needed inorder for me to be prepared to attend a college university. For example, as a senior at Environmental Charter High School, I currently take a senior seminar class which my teacher and her assistants offfer the college readiness support my peers and I need to apply for college and financial aid. They did this by guiding us through the process of applying for the UC application, Common Application, FASFA, CSU Application, etc. One thing I would like to see change at Environmental Charter High School is a improvement in the school lunches they offer to their students.
My overall experience is pretty interesting. My favorite experiences at this school would have to be intercession. If you don't know what that is, it's basically a month long class to cover a topic and research about it then present. I know one of my favorite topics was the social justice one which took place my sophomore year. My groups social justice topic was equal pay in the workspace. This topic really opened my eyes to see how unfair women are being treated. This led me into looking into other things women didn't have much rights for. The thing that makes this school so unique is that we are Environmental! We have everything from rain barrels, a green house, chickens, compost makers, a pond, wildlife, and tons of plants. Recently our school got certified as a wildlife place. That's one of the most rarest things some schools have. The reason why this school is so amazing is because it's so safe and calm. It's almost like your in a forest or jungle I may say. Everyone around the school has such positive and friendly energy. I wouldn't choose another school because this school is open into hearing my ideas. On top of that it's a College Prep school, which is basically preparing you for college. That's the main reason I'm there because I will be a first generation.
