Enumclaw Senior High School Reviews
Rating 3.58 out of 5 219 reviews
At Enumclaw High School the best part of my experience was the teachers. I had amazing experiences with most of my teachers and I found joy in the subjects simply because they were teaching it. I formed meaningful connections with them and I feel like I could talk to most of them if I had any issues. The worst part of my experience was the student behavior and how it was handled. We constantly had bathrooms closed for vandalism to the point where there was only one girls and one boys bathroom available in the whole school for 2 out of the 4 years I went there. The fire alarm got pulled so many times which was a huge disruption to learning. Also, there was a huge issue with vaping in the bathrooms and I didn’t always feel safe in the bathrooms. The quality of learning was good and I took AP classes so I felt that I was surrounded by kids who also wanted to do their best and succeed which made it a healthy learning environment. I was however disappointed by the lack of control.
At Enumclaw Highschool I believe that the majority of our schools student body strives to be all inclusive and have a positive outlook towards others. Specifically, our all inclusiveness towards students with different learning needs. I can often walk through the hallway and see high fives being given to the special needs students. But our inclusiveness is not the only spirit we have. Our school spirit at sporting events does not compare to other schools. Especially at our football games. Everyone dresses up and participates in the cheers, we all stand for the whole game and the stands are always packed shoulder to shoulder with cheering students. These are some of the highly positive parts of Enumclaw high school. On the other hand our school has experienced our fire alarms being pulled almost every other week, things being stolen such as cars and bathroom items, and we have a high number of students who smoke and vape in school. Despite these issues I give my school 4/5 stars.
It is small and easy to navigate. The school could be more accessible with its resources to help students navigate careers and lifestyles with what is relevant in todays trends. It would be great to be connected with speakers from the working field. The school also could favor those in the shadows and not just the popular kids. People need a platform to try and fail and not just those that arrive ready to flourish. Not everyone has equal opportunity and more space needs to be created for the middle of the lot that also need to be see and heard and offered attempts to reach for their dreams. Elementary school is great and then the law of diminishing returns starts to play for most. Only the popular kids thrive while the others fade out and navigate their journeys in the shadows.
