It was great to be an Indian! I loved every minute of it. I had been apart of the football and track teams for all four years growing up. I had multiple teachers who were involved in my maturing as I rose through the ranks at school. Every teacher here truly wants kids to succeed and move on to a better future. I even had a few coaches and teachers help me in times of dire need and instability. Overall the students here are well diverse and you can make a ton of friends here. Also, The football games on Friday nights are thrilling with a now winning football team. I would say that each sport has its dedicated fan base at the school so no one is left to dry as far a sports go. Finally, God is truly blessing this school as they are building a new gym next to the orignianl school, have a new turf field, and have increasing growing numbers here. There studies for academics test such as ACT is perfect, and the teachers really do pay attention to kids weaknesses and work on building them.
Holt High School was a decent high school to attend, as it provided many wonderful opportunities to me during my senior year such as being able to graduate a semester early, earn AP credits, and graduating with honors. The majority of the teachers are good at their job, fair, and willing to support students so that they may succeed. There are a variety of clubs to participate in, making a great basis for a college application as one can show participation in school government, sports, languages, academic, and many more clubs. As someone who participated in both theater and band, I can attest to the wonderfulness for both programs! Overall, Holt is a wonderful high school that prepares it's students for success for whatever they wish to pursue later in life.
Just as with any school, there are going to be teachers who genuinely care about students and those who want the bare minimum from them and don't try as hard for their success. Luckily, in my experience, the majority of my teachers genuinely cared for me and my classmates as we navigated through the changing world with everything that was new to us. However, there wasn't a whole lot of college preparation, besides resources for the SATs and ACTs. The lack of diversity was also a negative. The Holt High School Indians being the mascot is also culturally insensitive. Furthermore, no orchestra, yet a ton of funding for band, makes my rating even lower.
