Best school for students who are intimidated by large class sizes, but want rigorous courses, independent courses, and unique courses like Astronomy instead of just General Science, or Western Medicine, instead of Health, or Minority Voices in Literature instead of English 10, or Anatomy instead of Bio. The clubs are awesome too, Debate, Model UN, ACLU, Gaming, and more! Students are a part of a small family group with very dedicated and caring teachers. And I have taught at many schools, private, public and charter. I enjoy coming to work and teaching Epic Poetry and Shakespeare to students who love it!
Emerson is a wonderful and diverse private high school. It's small and family like. My student is very safe there and looks forward to going daily. There are not a lot of activities such as sports or dances. We're trying to change this in order to give our students a true "high school experience". The faculty and students are great and the academics are challenging. Students mature almost immediately, as they are encouraged to manage their own high school careers.
My experience at Emerson has been extraordinary! There is never a dull moment. The classes that are offered are interesting and are taught in a very engaging manner. The teachers tend to use real world applications in their lessons so it keeps the students hooked. The students are allowed to suggest a class that they want to be taught and if the school finds a teacher that can teach the class, the class gets offered the following semester.
