I have always loved Emerson they always strive for excellence. Dr. Brown is wonderful and has tried very hard to move Emerson Academy to a higher standard academically, so much improvement from previous years before he became principle. Dr. Brown has introduced new programs to the school and even improved Emerson's test scores. I have two children that attend one is a fifth grader and the other is a newbie (kindergarten). They both love their school and their wonderful teachers can't leave them out. The staff is very helpful, motivational, loving, positive and caring. My fifth grader is on the petite side about the size of my kindergartener and one thing that always bothered me about that is other children bullying him, but at Emerson he has never had that issue and I feel very confident that if that were to happen the teachers and the rest of the staff would respond appropriately and with urgency. There is always room for improvement and everyday they are trying to make that happen.
Years ago this was a great school. If they ever go back to their roots it could be again. For now, they’re mostly concerned with keeping bodies in the chairs so they receive more funding from the state. The teachers are bullied by office staff like children. Children are also bullied. Safety is far too relaxed. Due to the bullying of the teachers, they’re afraid to seek additional resources for issues for fear of the office staff lashing back.
The bullying is out of control. The staff parent disrespect is at an all time high. You can't ever speak to anyone in authority. No one is held accountable for the way these teachers sit at their desk and refuse to help students. Then when parents want a meeting, it's always nobody is available. Smh there definitely is a system in place for certain ethnicities.
