This small town school became a part of our family four years ago. I fell in love. We knew no one. Before school started it was time to “ meet the teachers”. I had no clue we would also meet the bus drivers. Each child was required to meet the driver, check that their name was on that drivers list! I then met the driver as well. He asked where did we move to.
He was familiar with all the streets and knew exactly where I moved in. I felt so comfortable . He looked at me and said, “ill took care of them “. Without a doubt my children rode the bus the first day of school, it was perfect!
Here we are four years later with my oldest graduating high school. I still have no doubt she is cared for. The faculty and staff at Elysian Fields are so welcoming to parents from the time they walk in the school or even from a phone call. Sure, we have had hiccups along the way , but always sorted out and I have never walked away feeling the situation is not resolved !

Elysian Fields high school is placed in a very tightly knit community. It is difficult to meet someone there that you do not already know. The teachers all care for the students as if they were family. A lot of change is coming to the school going into the 2022-2023 school year, but I think it will be good for all the students remaining at Elysian Fields to experience something that is not so familiar to them. It will help to better prepare them for the real world.
Elysian Fields is a very sports centered school. The coaches try to help athletes that struggle in classes get their work done on time. If a student athlete is failing a class that is not an honors or advanced placement class, he/she cannot participate in games, whether they be tournaments or district games. Coaches and teachers work together to help struggling athletes get and keep their grades up, but only if the athlete has good manners and is a decent kid. However, if an athlete is good at what he/she does, if they are "the best player", it doesn't seem to matter if he/she can act respectfully, make good grades, or be a leader to anyone. The coaches, though they say they don't have favorites, do indeed. If the coach has a child or family member on the team that they coach, they'll more than likely put that player in a varsity level position, regardless of whether there's a more qualified, respectful, older student athlete in the same position.
