This school was and still might be known to have a bad reputation because of past years but let me tell you from personal experience that it was not like that. This school gave me many opportunities to become successful, especially with the University Center which is a specialized program designed to provide intensive preparation and college courses to motivated high school students. Students enroll in courses at Sonoma State University while still in high school. Furthermore, the counselors and teachers there are also amazing people who want to see the students succeed. My counselor helped me with scholarships, college applications, and even gave me advice when I wasn’t at my best. One thing the school could work on would be having spirit, sometimes it’s not the greatest but we all still try out best to show spirit. Other than that, I’d say that it’s an amazing school and I have met great people there. I met my best friend there who is currently at Berkeley. I highly recommend going!
My overall experience with Elsie Allen is pretty poor, there are select great teachers, however you need to make sure you get the right ones. Many new teachers start out at Elsie Allen and continue elsewhere leaving Elsie with many unexperienced teachers. Many students as well lack school spirit and share the same attitude they do not want to be there.
What I love about this school is that it allows you to take college classes and care for your future. They care about each of their students and hope for the best for their student's future. They make sure that you are comfortable and safe at this school, by taking extra precautions for your safety.
