Elmira High School Reviews
Rating 3.55 out of 5 86 reviews
Elmira has a very united community that always has each other's backs. Yet, I wouldn't say I've had the best time at Elmira High School. During my time at Elmira, I experienced lots of judgment and did not always feel accepted. I wasn't always able to be myself. Of course, I had my safe places, such as band or when I was with my friends, but in the everyday classroom, there was division among students. In the future, for my younger siblings and anyone who attends after me, I wish for there to be a safer and more connected environment. I wish that everyone will feel involved, accepted, and loved.
Before I share with you my experience going to this school, please take into account that I only went here once, that being for my junior year. With that said, I'll get started. While I attended this school, I noticed that it was moderately clean, except there being times where I would walk into a bathroom and find something gross, or the odor of other students vaping. Speaking of other students, I will say that there was a good handful of sketchy students, now with that being said I want to make it clear that I have no interest in pointing out others for their misconduct since we're all from different backgrounds living our own completely different lives. Now despite that, I must say some students definitely didn't treat either their education, or the people around them with respect, but I won't go into further details then that. My experience with teachers is mixed, since some obviously valued their students and their jobs, but others just didn't. To put it short, this school is ok.
I would like to see students who don't have great grades, who aren't into any extracurricular activities and students who suffer from mental health have more support from staff there. My experience wasn't the greatest because I wasn't a jock or a student with the best grades, so I feel like I slipped through the cracks of having the extra help I needed.
