The one thing I enjoyed about Ellender was the harmony everyone had together. There was a day that went by, where I couldn’t to a random person and get neglected. No one was ever really hurtful or mean. When it came down to school activities, everybody connected and laughed together. If there was work within the class that was hard, no one panicked. Most classes that I was in as a whole would work to solve an equation or fix a writing. Administration was strict, but only because of their dedication to keep the students on track. I personally grew mentally as I continued to go to Ellender Memorial High School. One lesson that I learned from that school is if you love what you do , then there won’t be any moment of hardship.
My experience was great at Ellender. I love all the teachers and administration here. There is nothing you will miss more than having a locker, walking in the hallway, chatting with friends, giving out ridiculous handshakes like it was free candy, wondering who will say “hi” to you in the hallway (and who won’t), and of course, truly understanding the silent anxiety of picking a lunch table. Those new experiences get stunted when we realize there’s only so many people in this small, small town. You’re forced to be friends with the same people regardless of whether or not they’re the types of people you love being around or if they’re even a good fit. I was lucky to have great friends in high school.
As a senior in high school, you look back at all your memories these past 4 years and just remember all the good and bad. At Ellender Memorial High School, I have had the best experiences that I will not be able to get at other high schools. The reason why is because we consider each other family. Everyone around our school will always try to talk negatively about our school, but we truly are a hardworking school that will never stop! I love my high school and it will be sad that I am graduating, but it was all worth it in the long run! I love Ellender Memorial High School!
