My experience at Ellender Memorial High School has been average due not having consistent teachers and our own school. And I understand that this was due to Covid-19 and Hurricane Ida. We had to relocate and share schools with another high school. The classes were only 35 minutes long during my junior year. They only have us busy work, not work to test our knowledge. And we barely had homework to assist with practice to what was "taught" during classtime. We went to school from 12:00pm-5:00pm.
During my senior year, it has gotten better because we were able to move into portables on our school campus because our school was destroyed from Hurricane Ida they are making an effort to make this year memorable than previous years. They are trying to get back to some form of normalcy. Everyone seems to have a better attitude and are trying to help us navigate through this big change that has occurred this school year. This year has been by far better than my previous years.

My experience at Ellender Memorial High School was a rollercoaster. We dealt with a lot of damage from Hurricane ida, covid etc. But the experience was fun, still being able to be with my fellow classmates and having a good time. Enjoying each other presence, loving each other as well. We are like a big dysfunctional family that will forever love each other. We may have our differences but what family who doesn’t. I enjoy being at Ellender, we experience a lot of fun, from football games, basketball games, I’ll miss it all.
Ellender Memorial High School has definitely provided me a great learning experience since i’ve been there. There are great teachers, a chill environment, and not-so-bad peers. Learning has been very smooth and I feel like i belong. Although Ellender is nice to attend, there could be improvements. There needs to be AP/College Courses (there are none), the food quality is poor, and not much attention goes into the arts/music programs.
