As a senior at Elk Rapids High School, I wouldn't have wanted my high school experience at any other school. At Elk Rapids High School you'll find friends right away and the teachers will welcome you will a smile on their faces. You'll create memories that will last you years, such as going to your first homecoming dance and or game where everyone is showing their school spirit. There are sports for everyone and whatever passion you have whether it be in equestrian, tennis, or football, Elk Rapids will have it for you. Being ranked #54 out of 950+ Michigan schools you will not be disappointed in enrolling here. There will also be a bond that will hopefully get passed in the next year or so to help improve the overall look of the school, with a new gym, better classrooms, and an improvement in technology, so it will be better than it already is for future students to come.

Elk Rapids High School, considering it is of Class C rank, has good academic ratings. These high scores and accomplishments, however, seem to stem from the dedicated teachers who provide well-planned instruction, which are in short supply. Class sizes are small, so students are able to connect with a greater percentage of their peers than that of a large high school, but there is little diversity. Additionally, there are few options for courses or extracurriculars beyond the basics.
I think the high school provides a large variety of coursework. A lot of teachers know how to competently teach it. However, there are some that struggle to fully understand the material they teach to students. They expect the students to understand when they do not fully understand themselves. And, if they do understand the material, they fail to teach it well. I'd say this is a serious issue at Elk Rapids High School with a few teachers. The coursework is spread out way too thin, so an elective course such as robotics is taught very poorly. Teachers that teach required courses too, like economics, fail to properly educate students with the information and instead be the teacher that everyone likes; the cool teacher; the "chill" teacher. However, in my world, being the cool teacher does not cut it. If teachers in Elk Rapids High School make upwards of $50,000 a year, including summer break, winter break, spring break, and weekends, then I expect far more.
