Elizabethton High School was overall a great high school to go to! It is very inclusive and you can be whoever you want to be. The teachers and administrators are great people to be with and they truly care about you. The downside is that they do not prepare you for college at all. The teachers do not give you any homework that requires you to think or actually study. I was able to just slide through school and pass all my classes easily. The way they have it set it up is so they can have the highest graduation rate there is. If you look up the report card on the state's website, you can see the graduation rate is a 99.5%, which is nearly impossible compared to other schools in the state of Tennessee. The schools needs to improve their system and actually get their students prepared for college since they want to shove it down our throats the second you walk through the doors freshman year.

Elizabethton High school overall is a very good school. But a lot of your experience depends on what you take and make of what’s available to you. In order to fully reap the benefits available, you need to be focused and engaged in your classes and with the teachers. Most of the times I have had issues with the school is with the poor updates of the facilities. The bathrooms are all the same from the 80s and are abused by students because they are so old. It feels unsanitary to use the bathroom because everything seems old and dirty. Another annoyance I’ve dealt with is the way some teachers treat their students. They say “you’re in high school now, I’m gonna treat you like an adult”, yet they won’t work with problematic schedules, only allow 3 bathroom passes the entire semester, and treat us all as though we are still children. Most teachers are not like this. However the few that are outshine the many that aren’t.
Elizabethton High is an always expanding, always growing place. The students and teachers work very hard to implement real word problems into all subjects, applying skills where necessary. Community involvement is very prominent; at EHS many classes are offered to improve the world around the students.
