I believe high school is a time for people to grow. A time for people to discover themselves, and figure out who they want to become in the world. High school is meant to prepare someone for the parts of the world they have not yet seen. I am forever grateful that my school has shaped me into the person I am today, but Elizabeth High School still needs a lot of change. I see no motivation on the faces of my fellow student body. There are many teachers who rush through lessons, even if it does affect other's learning abilities. No one is pushed hard enough, and this makes it impossible for us to see the full capabilities of our mind. Some students are so quick to judge others, and it is as if they have no empathy at all. This is how it has always been, and it will never change until the school grows out of its small minded mindset. Everyone wishes to evoke change, but people have to want change for it to happen.
Elizabeth High School has always felt like home for me since my freshman year of high school. My parents decided to transfer my sisters and I after a bad experience at another school, and I would like to say this decision has positively impacted my life in many ways. Many people are not very fond of the idea of a small school due to the lack of sports or extracurriculars, but one of my favorite things about attending such a small school is the atmosphere. Since the school is so small, there are no strangers, making it more comfortable for students. Teachers do not know what students are facing in their lives outside of school, but a their job is not to just teach, it is to make their students feel secure and to assure them that they can open up without fear of being shamed. The faculty and staff at EHS meet these standard, and they also strive to help students achieve their academic goals, as well as their personal goals.
Elizabeth High School is truly a one of a kind place. Being a K-12 school has an abundant amount of pros. The bonds one is able to create over the course of their time here is remarkable. Having been with the same classmates your entire life is an experience like no other. Not only do you get to create friendships that will last a lifetime, but these individuals also become family. As a senior, I feel as if most people usually look forward to graduating. My class on the other hand, has already begun dreading this event. The seperation will for sure take a tole on us, but we will always cherish the memories made at Elizabeth High.
