Even though Elgin High School isn’t that special it manages to do one thing that every school should focus on and that’s providing a solid educational experience since there wasn’t any issues regarding this topic. One issue Elgin High School suffers from is the budget it appears to run on, there are many rooms that could get a renovation and many sports could get more equipment and proper coaches but besides these minor issues the school still succeeds on whats its suppose to do and its to provide students the best education possible.
Elgin High School is a pretty good school despite what some may say. First of all the school is very old and has a lot of culture and tradition. Also the teachers (or at least the teachers I have had) genuinely care about their students and try to give their students the guidance and tools they will need to succeed. While there is definitely room for improvement overall, the administration while slow, does sort of work to try and fix more pressing issues. In the end though, my favorite part of this school is the more friendly and accepting culture and the connections that I have made with many of the teachers and fellow students.
I definitely like the culture around Elgin High School, especially the athletics. Most people who participate in sports are very passionate about what they do. The Academy program is excellent. It has great teachers and everyone in it wants to do well and help each other out. I do hear people complain about the administration and how certain situations are handled. A good amount of people smoke and vape in the bathrooms, but the deans have been doing more to prevent that from happening. Overall, Elgin High is great if you hang around the right crowd and are involved in your academics and extra-curriculars.
