No diversity!
Since this school has District 02 priorities, not many students come from other NY boroughs. This minimizes the chances of having a diverse student body. If you are Hispanic/Black, there are not a lot of people to talk to or who can relate to you. This was the downside to my Elro experience, which became so profound that I ended up transferring. It was hard going to a place everyday where no one would talk to me; I felt invisible and every day became a struggle. On the bright side, the security guard Shirley is the sweetest :) Also Mr. Saliani, the principal, is always looking for ways to improve the school. I think looking at ways to diversify the school is a great place to start.

Overall it is an amazing school. The community is welcoming and teachers and administrators really care about our livelihood . Attending this school has honestly been a blessing and I’m safe to say I’m so glad that they chose me to be apart of the graduating class of 2019. By far the friendliest school, it’s always a pleasure to go to school in the morning knowing you are surrounded by the best people. Even our security guards are a delight! The absolute best people you will ever meet in your life, no other place feels so much like home
Soooo much homework! Some teachers will specifically tell you to set aside 2 or 3 hrs for their homework (each class) on the weekends. Also, the teachers and students are very set in their ways and are not very open to new/different ideas and opinions (political, societal, functional, etc). If you are too far ahead in a subject, rather than taking dual enrollment courses for credit, you will have to repeat previous courses. Also, if you transfer in after Freshman year, the staff is very unhelpful with the transition.
