I love my High School because of the amazing staff always making people smile. The people here are very friendly and always make one other feel welcome. I am so glad to be attending this High School.
I think that El Modena is a good school with a good staff. They are constantly trying to look for ways to improve the school as a whole. I think the community is great and all the students are decently well rounded. The one thing I would say we could work on is our sports programs. It seems the only sports program we truly focus on is football. We could definitely put more money into soccer and definitely track & field. Overall, it’s a good school.
The class environment was generally friendly if competitive, although the school was very underfunded in the arts and building resources.
What makes Elmo enjoyable is the variety of school clubs and events they offer to students to stay connected with the school and make new friendships along with developing interests. One thing I would like to see change is the rules regarding how restrooms should be directed in terms of the availability of them staying open or closed.
The best part of El Modena is the people. Never will you meet such an awesome collection of students and faculty. The students are nice and welcoming. They are full of school spirit and are like a family that is open to anyone. The teachers love their jobs and where they work and it shows. I love about all my teachers, they are great at teaching and have amazing personalities. The school itself is a bit outdated and run down but you get used to it. On the bright side, new buildings and facilities have just been constructed and more are on the way so this won't be an issue for long!
I loved it here, and I can’t wait for my sister to come as a freshman. Our school is connected to Fred Kelly Stadium, so our football games are always very hyped.
El Modena High School and the whole Orange Unified School District in my experience, wasn't what I had expected throughout my time being enrolled. The staff didn't seem to harp on our education and with a decent amount of poverty. My education didn't seem to be taken serious and others I am sure felt the same as I did. You The school itself is ran down and looks the same according to my father who graduated in 1980. All areas of this school can be improved, but only have chosen to upgrade the football field for the 7th division football team. I hope in the future they will fund more money to the school and better education.
El Modena High School has a more relaxed environment compared to other schools, as I have felt significantly less stress compared to when I was in middle school.
My high school experience was so much fun. I am so glad to have met the people I did. The students and teachers are so incredible. I’m so glad I am a vanguard.
The one distinctive difference that El Mo provides to the table would be its student life and all around student culture. For some things all of the student body come together and enjoy a shared experience when in reality we would never even cross paths with each other. One aspect about El Modena that could be changed would be the teachers and staff. There are way too many on campus that harass students, don’t know what they’re teaching, or are plain out rude to their own students and even discriminate against them for their own beliefs and values. Among those teachers there are some amazing ones but at this point most of them have retired.
El Modena had a mix of really awesome staff who made my experience at El Modena unforgettable, as well as teachers who made learning more difficult less engaging. Over all, the students are nice and there are plenty of opportunities for help and support on campus. College prep was very accessible and is making my transition out of high school a little easier.
I love the environment this school has created. When it comes to the students have given them an amazing high school this school is one of the best. My favorite thing this school does is spirit week. Spirit week is one of the best things this school does and anybody will say the same. When it comes to spirit week our school is one of the best. When I first heard about spirit week everyone was talking about how fun it is. After my first experience, I felt proud to be part of the Vanguard family.
During my time at El Modena high school, starting in 2015 and concluding in 2019, I had a lot of trouble trying to just fit in. What changed this however was the teachers and staff and how they interacted with me throughout my four years there. They made me feel more welcome and this allowed me to open up more as the years went on. The lessons at my high school were captivating and helped me to set out on the career path I am currently trying to obtain. The only thing I would like to see changed at El Modena is the way the administration handles personal issues and mental health, or issues there of. Despite having an overall good experience there, as a male with Autism, I felt held back as I was denied the same opportunities to do things such as AP courses due to my condition.
For the most part, we love the teachers at El Mo. The AP programs are great and there are many neat electives. The music program could use improvement though, when there are motivated kids who don't get the support they need to have a good program.
It is a great school, this is my second year at El Modena High School and I really love it. Teachers here have some great skills, every one has a different way of folding information into our brains. Staff and faculty care a lot about us, there is always someone there to talk to if we need. Spirit is also evident here, we have the "Rowdy Rooters" which is an awesome group of students who make the school spirit rave in excitement. El Modena is where I found myself as a student, and a person.
There is nothing remarkable about the school. It is in essence a high school through and through. The teachers are kind and patient. The students are crass, but civil. Overall there isn't a thing I'd change, it's nothing special but there isn't anything wrong with it.
All the teachers work their hardest and really make an effort to help their students! The students are really nice and are very friendly! Love this place!
