I am currently a student going into my senior year at the University Laboratory School; I have been a student at UH Lab since the 6th grade. Looking back, I can say that I am extremely grateful for my acceptance into and opportunity to be a student at this school. This school is small, but tight-knit: there are approximately 50 people in my grade (including me), and this applies for the other grades. Because there are far less students as opposed to those of other schools, there are far less teachers as opposed to those of other schools. Thus, there's a greater chance of developing something AMAZING: a community. I truly believe that this is what sets this school apart from other schools. Here, we're able to really learn what 'ohana means. The annual Pā'ina, 'ohana day, and Fun Run are just a few of what we have been able to do BECAUSE we are such a small school. And not only activities, but the chance to really be close to your school, class, and teachers

As a student at University Laboratory School, it prepares you for the next steps in your life. As I entered High School here, the teachers have helped my classmates and I to prepare for college. We have a College and Career class where we are guided by a college counselor. We learn college admission and financial aid tips. We are also able to talk to our college counselor personally to ask any questions we may have during the college admission process. The support at University Laboratory School is awesome. However, I would like to see more of a variety of classes to choose from as well as challenging classes like AP or Honors.
University Laboratory School, is a nice open campus. With our science classes a lot of what we do is a lot of hands on projects. I think that this is wonderful to have in a school because it can prep kids for what happens in real life. All of our teachers really want to get to know us and not just by our names. All of the staff and students are friendly with one another. However, this is a open campus meaning that anyone can come onto our campus. The school lunches are provided for students everyday. Also our classrooms are in real good condition which makes the environment a better learning experience, but can be a little hot since there is no air conditioning in some classrooms.
