Senior Capstone

Seniors participate in a self-driven action research project called Senior Capstone in which they answer the question, "Where do my skills and interests meet the world's greatest needs?". Students can complete an action research project, complete an internship experience or investigate careers; afterwards, they will summarize their learning in a written and oral presentation to the school.

Our school is very online-oriented (the students are all provided with laptops to work with), which allows the students to have more freedom in choosing when, where, and how to complete assignments, with the options to listen to music while working and choosing to work with available. These accommodations foster the student's potential for success not only in high school, but the college environment and beyond.
I credit the success of this system with the help of the teachers, who have not only the credentials to teach, but the heart and the talents necessary to have students understand and master the teacher's respective subjects. A great contribution to their effective teaching methods would be their patience with the students, as well as incorporating humor to capture the attention of students during lectures and class addresses. I would recommend this school to anyone who values independence in learning and wish to make positive relationships with students and staff.

USC East College Prep is an excellent school, although they have a very rigorous academic program, they always make sure that each students are keeping up with their homework, classwork, etc. They also have a very strict school culture in order to prepare the students not only for college but also for the professional world. They have a 100% college acceptance rate and all the teachers and staff are great!
USC East College Prep is a nice high school in that the academics are great, there are various extracurricular choices, college readiness, Administration is great, it is safe, and its science, mathematics, and technology fields are great. It is not very diverse because it is located in a predominately Hispanic area. I do not eat the food here, but I would assume that it is average because most students do eat. When there are events involving parents, many do come to them or participate. The school spirit and culture exists and is shown, but it is not perfect. There are a nice amount of sports like boys/girls basketball, soccer, volleyball, cross country, and track and field, but other sports like football and baseball are not available. There are not choices for electives like music or theater drama, but there is an art class.
