I graduated from Edna Karr in 2004, before the devastation of hurricane Katrina changed New Orleans forever. I loved my school!!! The staff was amazing, the opportunities were amazing, and i loved the sense of family and school pride (Cougar Pride!). I met students who became family from many different backgrounds. Karr was one of the top performing school in New Orleans and we felt a pride for that. The one thing I would have changed then was the size of the school. It was originally designed to only be a middle school (7th & 8th grade) but ended up housing 7th - 12th grade! That has changed now and Karr has a beautiful new facility! I would recommend Edna Karr Secondary School to any student looking to stretch themselves, become a part of family, and make a lasting impact on their community. We are SECOND TO NONE!
Overall, my academic high school experience at Edna Karr High School has been successful. I have managed to maintain a 4.3 cumulative grade point average, as I am enrolled in honors and dual enrollment classes. I have formed everlasting bonds and relationships with my peers, teachers, and staff. These past four years will always be very dear to me. I am confident that my high school experience at Edna Karr has prepared me for post secondary education.
With all honesty, the school itself was okay. The friends I made and got close with made my high school years special, especially my senior year. I got close with people I never even talked to before. The friends I’ve made this year will be in my life for a long time and I really cherish that. A lot of teachers really opened my eyes about the world, shout out to Mr. Clincy Harris for not holding back and telling us about real world problem, and not censoring it either. He also treated the class like we were young adults.
The school have room the improve itself, instead of over looking the students, they should listen to what they have to say. Try to understand how they feel. Kids only give respect to who gives them respect back.
