Wonderful school, wonderful people and environment. Here's a quick pros and cons list:
Pros:
- Phenomenal teachers
- Great culture
- Flexible/open to feedback
- Great for college preparedness
- Manageable workload while challenging
- Diverse, social justice focused
Cons:
- Not very competitive when it comes to sports
- Low budget theatre department - not the greatest in the world
- Required Earth System Science class (not very fun, should be optional)
- Tiny bit dogmatic in it's social justice focus (although it's overall more a pro than a con)

Strong academics and every child is known and seen. Strengths are celebrated and challenges are addressed. This school is a gem and I could not endorse more highly. I love how the school understands adolescents and helps parents with that task as well. The school is extremely well run, including during COVID. We picked Burke because of strong academics and have been equally impressed with the commitment to values as articulated in the school's mission. Have never seen an institution so committed to its mission.
I was accepted as a late transfer when I had problems with my previous HS. When I entered the school during my junior orientation, I immediately met nice and inclusive students. The teachers were extremely supportive and helped me develop a safe space in a new environment. My entire experience here was extremely wonderful- despite the cringe assemblies and songs that were played. The teachers were by far the nicest and most supportive people ever. Burke has been the best thing that has happened to me and it's extremely diverse, weird in its own way, and fun.
