Edison High School is overall a decent school. There are problems, or course, but every high school has problems. Some, however, are larger than others and may be a complaint of the school system as a whole. But more importantly the culture at the school seems to be more focused on strenuous rules that no one, including staff, follows and the sports teams at the school. More specifically the football team is focused on a praised more than all. This focus even over shadows the education part of the school. Despite this failure on the administration, the staff is very welcoming and is always trying their best to teach what they know and help whenever students are in need. They are limited by the school with the curriculum provided and cannot discipline students in any real sense. Though the teachers cannot be at blame for this as the administration does nothing in the sense of discipline either.
As previous users have stated, 95% of our teachers are extremely hardworking and dedicated to their jobs. As you get to know most of them, they will check on you daily to make sure things are going well for you. There are a few teachers, especially in the science and math departments, that put less than stellar effort into their jobs and it shows (however, they still do a pretty good job with the resources they are given). I do believe clubs are significantly underfunded compared to sports, and sometimes clubs actually still end up performing better. Our band and drama programs are second to none around our area, most sports have been quite competitive and successful recently, Speech & Debate is posting some of the best numbers it's ever had here (thanks to our wonderful advisers), and there have been at least 5 new clubs created in the past few years. The atmosphere is generally safe and welcoming, although you can argue some kids were raised to be rather unforgiving.
My experience at Edison High School was excellent. The teachers were wonderful and very caring about us students. They gave us opportunities that aren't in every school. The agricultural class was in my opinion the best class. The teacher took his own time to teach after school for competitions, among other things. I've learned alot about myself there as well as my ability to achieve the goals I set. Over all I'm very pleased with the education I've received.
