A great school with friendly staff and teachers! Fantastic classes and programs, although some teachers are better than others. The food is very mediocre, but at least this year it's free. There's great support for students, from college counseling to mental health counseling. Go Chargers!
I am about to be a senior next year and I can honestly say that I love Edison and am so glad that I chose this school! They have tons of amazing sports teams, an awesome supportive student section for games, teachers that want to help you learn and succeed in academics, good classes to choose from and guidance counselors who are kind and want to help you out, an incredible art & music program (art, ceramics, culinary arts, band & colorguard, I think orchestra, choirs, acapella groups, musical theatre, and 2 amazing music industry classes), lots of cool clubs you can choose be a part of, and finally a nice campus and good school spirit, Go Chargers haha :)! Here, from Academics, Athletics, Arts, to Activities, you can belong anywhere and everywhere, make fun memories, and be able to prepare well for your future after high school. I love how I’ve made awesome friendships and continue to, how I can healthily challenge myself, & how much I have grown as a person from being here :)
Great community in HB with very active families. Easy for kids to ride bikes to school. Lots of academic options as well as strong athletics and specialty programs for kids who want to be involved. Your student, however, will need to b self-motivated for academic excellence. The school doesn't seem to have very high academic expectations & administration seems a bit lazy about changing their approach. For the past couple years there has been lots of gender identity & social justice focus, especially in history & ELA. Teachers seem to push a very progressive agenda within their literary interpretations, history projects, questionnaires and activist students can get a bit disrespectful w/staff or students when they disagree. Even PE has such focus on mental health now that kids report it feeling like therapy sessions. If you're not super liberal, your child can still have a great experience but may have a tougher time finding a group of close friends.
