Edison high school in Huntington Beach Ca. is less than 1 mile from the Pacific ocean! I was able to make the baseball team my freshman year and had a great friend group all the way thru. I was able to take part in the MADD program, Beach trash pick up and the resolution run. I believe Edison's teachers and staff really support you as a student. From normal classes to counseling to college planning, I believe they really set me up for success. Being one of the few Hispanic students at my high school made for some challenges that I was able to overcome thru community based programs and playing on a sports team. I felt included and worthy my entire time at Edison. I really enjoyed my biology classes in 11th and 12th grade. It opened my eyes to the field of medicine and I was able to take a 2 week intro to medicine class at UCI last summer. I am now on my way to a 4 year college to major in Biology. Without the Edison staff and community I wouldn't be where I am today.

I love it here! I have spent my four years here in the band and had a wonderful experience with under and upper class men. Many have not had the experience I had because they haven't participated in sports or extracurriculars, but I'd still recommend this school because they really prepare you for college and provide difficult classes for you to challenge yourself.
Edison does very well with academics and preparing its students for college, which I will give the school credit for. Most teachers there actively put effort into their jobs and the curriculum for most classes is engaging. They also make sure to provide their students with multiple resources and opportunities for studying and tutoring. However, it has a high lack of diversity and hosts a largely hostile environment, which includes discrimination and bullying. The lack of action on behalf of the administration is disappointing; I have witnessed a Neo Nazi openly brag about getting off scot free after being reported for anti semitic comments and threats. Discriminatory graffiti and slurs are rampant. For this reason, I only give Edison 3 stars.
