Edgewood High School Reviews
Rating 3.83 out of 5 291 reviews
The best part of attending Edgewood High School was my involvement in the International Baccalaureate (IB) Program offered by the school. The program was very academically challenging and taught me how to approach concepts with a global perspective; the IB program was perfect preparation for college. However, the school itself outside of the small program was not very well structured or disciplined. It was common for students to carry weapons to school and get in hallway altercations. While the staff does the best that they can to prevent such activity, if more precautionary measures were taken to eliminate the problem the school would be much safer.
I love my school and all of the students and staff that are involved with it. Edgewood High school is an amazing school and always puts academics on top. On top of that, it is a magnet school that offers many rigorous programs that can help put students on a more academically challenging path that is specific to their interests. Personally, I have started at the TAM (Teaching Academy of Maryland) program and I love it. Although I am a Freshmen, I can see the upperclassmen that are a part of this program and I feel confident that I have a bright future. That being said, even if you do not attend a magnet program at this school, it is still very possible to take advanced placements classes, attend dual enrollment at out local community college and end up on a college bound path. Aside from academics, we are a very community driven school and deeply value the different relationships in a school and community setting.
some of the best parts are the students there, the school is very diverse opening everyone up to different cultures and beliefs. Some of the worst parts of this school is the values of the staff. This would be bothering the students because it causes them to feel less important or valued, for example seniors have asked to have more cords fir clubs and achievements because the international baccalaureate student always had the most, they didnt even take it into consideration ehich made student feel unvalued.
