Super competitive. One could say almost a toxic learning environment. However, with that being said, some good things can come out of that, for example, the standardized test scores average is super high, for the ACT it was a 31 which is crazy. Social scene is nonexistent. The sports teams are pretty much mediocre, so much so that the football team dropped out of Section One play and now play with other schools that also suck. But, if you want to go to an Ivy League college then this is the place for you. Finally, most teachers don't care about the students mental health. Unfortunately, it is common to have more than one test in a day.
The student body are very academically driven, but they still find time to pursue their passions and take care of their health. Most of the teachers are helpful; their office hours are always available to you. Many students have free periods as well, so they can study during the day. The open campus is beautiful, but some of the breezeways and buildings are falling apart a little. There is a clear divide between the honors and the regular students, however. Because the student body is small, and many students have their own commitments outside of school, clubs at this school are a little dormant.
Although Edgemont is on the smaller side for schools, it gives you so many opportunities going into your future. Going from a wide range of sports, clubs, and different groups you can be apart of, there is so many options for you to get involved here to build your resume. Not to mention the amazing teaching staff who more than prepare you for college. I definitely couldn't have gotten into college without coming to Edgemont.
