I attended this high school expecting it was going to be lacking in funding, sports, clubs, and events. However, besides football games, prom, and homecoming, we get to see academics come into play. We get to go to compete in Univeristy Interscholastic League which has many events such writing, math, science, current events, history, debate, and more. What makes UIL special in our school is that our teams are getting better and have coaches that are good guidance. Edcouch-Elsa has projects such as the IVY League Trip, Cotillion, Rotary Club, National Honors Society, and JROTC. The best thing, in my experience, was the Early College and the UT Onramps colleg courses/curriculum. They give cree classes that you would have paid in college. The school allows us to receive an associates degree and give us the instruments, computers, transportation, and resources for us to complete college. Edcouch also has a migrant center where migrants may ask for guidance and help.

Throughout the years the district began introducing new, diverse classes. Most of these included a certification of some sort to further us once we graduated the high school. Each of these classes each taught me different responsibilities such as multitasking, organization and an overall positive attitude. Additionally, each class came with their own levels of difficulty which the teacher thoroughly made sure we understood in order for the students to receive high marks. The only thing I hoped would have been better was the resources that were available for the students. There was a lot of technology, which is not a bad thing in this society, but there was some cases that a textbook was needed but was not available.
I was a student at Edcouch-Elsa High School for 4 years. I was part of the Early College program, and it gave me a lot of opportunities. The teachers did their best to prepare us for college and were very friendly. The school is full of spirit during sporting events and takes great pride in its students' personal and educational accomplishments and achievements.
Like any school, there were some things I would have liked to see changed. Sometimes the administration will focus too much on the success of sports than on academics. Since the entire district is under a free meal program, the food wasn't always the best. I also would have liked to see more parent involvement. Sometimes the school didn't do a good job of spreading information about events and meeting that people would have attended if they knew about it.
