At face value, Eastside High School is just another underfunded public school. The bathrooms are gratified, the technology is outdated, and classrooms are overcrowded. Our cafeteria food is comically unappetizing. We take too many standardized tests, and there are stereotypes, class divisions- literally- and pressures that lead to unhealthy habits, cheating, etc.
However, beneath the surface Eastside High School students can readily bond together in the hardest of times. I remember this clearly when we organized peaceful protest marches against societal/political issues; everyone chanting and walking as one collective mass. This unity is demonstrated again in students making class study guides, tackling difficult projects together, etc. We are a family with an extensive and versatile range of talents, and it can bean amazing experience to be a part of, one that truly prepares you for the future with people skills to go with solid intellect (fostered by IB and AP classes).

Eastside High School was the best decision I could have possibly made when looking at high schools that will better my education and life style resources; therefore, preparing me for the college atmosphere, and all things that pertain to it, and real life scenarios. I commend the Alachua County School board for their steadily hard work to keep the students involved in extra curricular activities. Being a IB student can really take a toll on a personal life when there is no time for anything but studies, but at Eastside they bring it to a point that individuals must interact with each other through many activities and clubs throughout the school. Eastside was an amazing experience, especially if you got involved; the only downside for me was that the school was across time and sometimes it was a rough to even travel the distance, but I guess you cant complain when you are for certain you are getting great experience for life. Go Rams!
Transferring my senior year to a new school where I knew no one was a bit frightening. When I first arrived, I was greeted by my principle and his staff. Everyone was nice and I immediately got the feeling that this school was for me. The teachers really cared about their students education and about them personally. As the semester went on, I began to meet more and more people as well as joining their Track and Field team. Running for Eastside High School helped me to be able to run in college at Savannah State University in Savannah, Georgia. When the end of the semester arrived, I was happy that all of my hard work or the past 4 years paid off my receiving my diploma, but I also was saddened that I would be leaving my favorite school. I will never forget the countless laughter with friends, receiving additional tutoring from my helped teachers, or even running at track meets. My experience at Eastside has attributed to the person that I am today.
