Eastside definitely prepares you for college. However, the faculty definitely underestimates the abilities of the students and especially the parents. Since Eastside is a school that serves students from underrepresented backgrounds they tend to believe that the parents of students are incompetent. The school is also very controlling of what the students do. The schedules are organized and set in stone and students must attend summer classes at the school. There is little opportunity to do things outside of the school. Even when it comes to applying for colleges and universities the college advisor tends to convince students to shy away from schools Eastside students have never attended. Other than these issues, the school definitely prepares you for college.

It's a really small school so it's really supportive to the students. It only has 270 people and it's privately funded. Every student has a sponsor that pays 19,000$ of their tuition. Being at this school is really mentally draining and difficult, so it's a really good college preparatory school, that also sends 100% of their students to 4 year colleges, which makes me feel really safe and ready for a bright future when attending the school.
My experience in Eastside was great. I was able to learn various things about our community and about the larger society. Although the academics were challenging, I feel prepared for college and I am excited to explore the world. I would not be the person I would be today without Eastside. I encourage middle schoolers to attend in they are up for the challenge.
