Applying and going to Eastern Technical High School has been one of the best experiences of my life. This school is competitive but also is full of people willing to help others if they needed it. The teachers there genuinely care about their students and creating bonds with them may have been one of the easiest things to do at that school! My fellow students have taught me how to open my mind to different opinions and ways of thinking. The only thing I would change about Eastern Tech is the reputation. Many people outside of Eastern view it as a hard school, but it's only hard if you don't put in any effort. The teachers there set you up for success, you just have to work for it!
Being a magnet school, I love that I get a taste of a field that I might want to go into in the future. We are huge on college readiness and I’m confident I’ll be prepared for college when I get there! The academics are tough, tougher than the public schools around us. However, students help each other all over the place and I had no trouble making friends while I played two sports, did the musical, as well as a volunteer club. The only negative I have about Eastern is that taking the hardest classes you think you could handle (AP, GT, etc.) is pushed a little too much for my liking. I would’ve taken at least one easier class a year if I were to go back, but overall I’ve had a good experience being pushed to my academic limits.
Before coming to Eastern, I went to a very small private middle school. Therefore, I was very nervous to make the transition into a larger public high school where I didn’t know anyone. However, I soon fell in love with the school and felt welcomed by everyone at Eastern Tech. The classes are very small so I am able to get a lot of personal attention from all of my teachers. In addition, I also love that this school challenges me academically. I am able to take AP classes such as AP Seminar and AP research to better prepare myself for college. Overall, my high school experience has been amazing. I have made some great friends and I feel very prepared for my future. I have recently been accepted to all 7 colleges that I have applied to, and I believe a large portion of that is due to the fact that I attend eastern tech!
