Eastern Hancock High School Reviews
Rating 4.07 out of 5 55 reviews
Eastern hancock is a very small school, only about 80 people in each grade. It has its benefits, such as more personal help from teachers and an easier time connecting with people. It also has its downsides. It has little behavioral discipline, and a lot of students get away with extremely bigoted or harassing behavior. You are more likely to get in trouble for attendance than assaulting someone. I also do not have confidence in the academics.
The opportunity at Eastern Hancock is great. With a very small rural community it's easy to excel and be the top of your class at whatever you're trying to accomplish. Art for example was a great opportunity for me at Eastern with the lack of artists here. This small population also has its disadvantages. Whether it's lack of teachers, classes, or job opportunities.
I transferred to Eastern my junior year after having been homeschooled my entire life. It is an extremely accepting school and the teachers all really care about their students. The vocational and work force programs that they offer are great ways to get started in non-college career paths, and they offer a ton of college prep/AP courses. The teachers all love what they're teaching and show their passions for it in and out of the class room. The students are surprisingly accepting even though its in the middle of a cornfield. I was even able to work as a student athletic trainer which helped guide me to a career I love. They have plenty of opportunities for college prep such as internships, shadowing opportunities, academic clubs/competitions, and but don't expect everything to be spoon-fed to you. You'll still have to seek it out and work for it.
