East Surry isn’t a huge school where you don’t know anyone but a handful of people. However it isn’t a tiny school where you know absolutely everyone. It’s the perfect size, the students are friendly and so are the faculty and staff!

East Surry High School is a decent high school for students to pass into after middle school but has many flaws. For one, the facility is very old (some places are literally falling apart or smell like mildew). The teachers seem slipt down the middle, with half not caring at all about their job, and the other half going the extra mile and ensuring that their students are succeeding. That being said, if you take advantage of the opportunities given, college readiness is an ease with a great number of AP classes and dual enrollment in Surry Community College classes either online or at the pilot center.
My experience with East Surry was a really good one. Everyone I know from there would more than likely say the same as well. The staff are excellent, there's a big variety of classes to choose from, and everything is easy to navigate. The only thing I would say that needs improving is the structure of the school. It was built in the 60's, and that is very easy to see as you walk around the school. So overall the school is fenominal, but could use a little updating.
