School still teaches as if still in pandemic.. children come in take out chromebook and work independently on assignments in silence with headphones on. Heavy reliance of technology and quizzes with no teaching and no spiral learning or follow up of gaps in knowledge from the constant testing. Reading is taught through apps and AI generated listening devices. Teachers spend teaching time in meetings, lesson planning and dealing with behavioral concerns, meetings with parents etc with little to no actual teaching time.
Food: fruit loops, lucky charms and chocolate milk for breakfast. If there is hot breakfast served its often reheated for lunch. $4.30 for heated up French toast sticks leftover from breakfast. Often milk served is expired.
Children must eat lunch in silence. Place heads on desk when finished. Must walk hallways in silence. 1 short recess per day. Must use recess time to walk laps for punishment from not sitting still and silent in class.

East Point Academy is a fantastic school! Our students are amazing! Every year at our talent show, I cannot believe the talent that our students have. Just being able to learn Mandarin Chinese is an amazing talent to me! You should hear them speak! Working here at East Point has allowed for me to experience the Chinese culture in a new way. My coworkers are all wonderful too! Our administrators and teachers are the best! I have loved working at East Point Academy!
I recently completed my student teaching at this amazing school. The environment is so positive and supporting. The teachers put in alot of work to make learning fun and challenging, and to help students reach their goals. The people there truly care about the students and helping them learn and grow. I feel very lucky to have been able to learn from the teachers and staff, and from the students as well.
