It feels like home. Going to a small school like East Nicolaus allows you to get to know your classmates and teachers more personally. The staff is welcoming and hard-working, always doing their best to ensure we have a safe and fun learning environment. Teachers are there to help both during and after school, the patience they have for all us students amazes me. Our athletics programs have always been good but out teams are always so close. The support we receive from both the town and students during games really shows the love we have in our small community high school.
My experience with East Nicolaus High School after graduating this year. I went to this high school for all 4 years the staff my first year was very nice but the education and students where very questionable. Almost all teachers that had been teaching at my school for years had quit after my first year. Then from my 2nd year to my last years teachers came and go as well as staff the new teachers hadn't had barely any teaching credential and didn't teach ver well only giving homework and test with little to no teachings. As for the staff I had about 3 principles and Vice in my short time at East Nic. Many students where also racist, and where almost little to no reprimand or disciplinary action against their actions. Overall the counseling was terrible and showed no help o actual problems and the counselor only changed classes and never supported any students who where going through any problems. Overall I was dissatisfied with my education.
Amazing teacher interaction with students and parents. Administration is approachable and welcoming to both students and their parents. Decent variety of classes. Strong Agriculture program and wonderful German studies program. Athletics is very strong with this school, especially their football team. School spirit is directly associated with the football team and as such most school attire/merchandise is solicited during football season.
The school needs to allocate more funds for their Arts program. Their Drama program seems to be an after thought and lacks administrative support. The school also lacks a music or choir program which could be combined with the drama program to make a more robust Arts department.
