East Nashville Magnet School Reviews
Rating 3.58 out of 5 205 reviews
I began attending East in 2019, and recently graduated in 2023. Since 2019, the school has gone downhill from it's former glory unfortunately. Even though it claims to be an "honors" school with the very best scholars, the school just accepts anyone who applies now, causing the school to be way too crowded and filled with people who just go to school because it's required. The heads of staff are way too uptight, which just causes a pushback with the students. I miss when you had to apply to get into East.
I really did not start to enjoy East until my senior year, however, I often reflect on my experiences. I feel if I have participated in more activities, I would have enjoyed it more. I always felt welcome and that I belonged in the environment. I made some of my best friends here and created amazing relationships with a few teachers that I still connect with after graduation. East really did not prepare me for college and I feel their sports programs got a lot more of the attention. Towards the end of my senior year clubs were introduced and I feel they should get more focus too. I felt safe at school, but it could be better. East also should focus less on student attire and more on the academics. Other than that, I had an okay high school experience. My brother is now attending there and it seems they have gotten a lot stricter with the new principle change.
Despite how rundown the school was, inconsistent the teachers were, and how uncompetitive the environment was, I’ll always have a soft spot for it, and I wish I was able to stay a bit longer and graduate here. The highlights of this school for me were definitely the pep rallies!
