East Mecklenburg High School is a great and diverse high school with an IB program and with multiple AP classes. For me personally, I love attending here as there are a lot of different classes and pathways I can take to help establish what I want to have as a career. I would recommend future students to enroll here as I had a good time and I hope they do too!
Great coaches and sports programs. Teachers were teaching at high level (IB ) Really enjoyed my classmates and the comradery I built through sports. Principal always made me feel welcome when I entered school each day. Safe environment. I was able to take advantage of the dual enrollment offered at Central Piedmont Community College - which was a huge factor in helping me be prepared for college. Picking my own classes and times was great. Moving ahead into harder classes was amazing. Having the feeling of being in college while still getting the high school experience was great. having credit towards college helps with the finacncial burden that will be coming due to tuition costs of both in state as well as out of state colleges. Buildings and sports areas have a lot to be desired. The one new building is great, but the gym in tiny and in desperate need of updating and enlarging to host sporting events. Locker rooms and bathrooms are old and dingy and need to be upgraded.
My experience at East Mecklenburg High School was so amazing and I learned the different lifestyle students from East Mecklenburg and it was pretty easy for me to adapted to this school because people were nicer than I thought. What I like about being a student at East Mecklenburg is that it gives me opportunity to take different classes such as AP and IB classes and it also gives me better academic and the teachers were hard worker. I also like the classes that I was given because the student were nice and the environment of classes makes me feel more comfortable. I would like to see bigger space or individual building for art and lab classes because in my opinion I think that art should be in different building because although art is part of academic, it’s more like creative activity so it should be in separate room, same goes to lab classes.
