I loved how East Leyden made my high school experience great overall. I made so many life long friends and met some of the best teachers I have ever had. Being a cheerleader for four years, I can say I truly experienced Leyden Pride and I wouldn’t change a thing about where I went to school. The teachers were great, caring, and taught me so much! When my mom got deployed freshman year they made sure I didn’t fall behind and had access to all the resources I needed to succeed. I went into East Leyden high school not qualifying for any honors class and I am graduating being a 4.4 GPA student enrolled in all honors and AP classes and a member of the Varsity Cheer Squad, National Honor Society, and Spanish Honor Society. I am so lucky leyden gave me all of the opportunities it did and I am so proud to say because of them and my teachers, I will be attending Loyola University next fall to major in nursing!

East Leyden High School has a very welcoming and opening community that supports every single person no matter their race, ethnicity, religion, or identity This school treats everyone with respect and encourages everyone to learn and have a successful day. Whenever you walk into the front entrance of the school, you feel the school spirit and encouragement. There have been altercations of school threats or incidents, but the school all together brings everyone to come back to school everyday and chooses what's safe for the school and each individual person here today. The diversity of this school is incredible on having different groups of people working together and having the same interest which makes East Leyden different from others. Overall, East Leyden is a school you want to be at that has different opportunities and options for every single student/staff in order to succeed in life.
I liked the fact that there were so many opportunities to get involved in a variety of different clubs and sports. Clubs like Maker Space which tell you how to use technology like 3-D printing, and casual clubs like Movie Club where you get to watch and discuss movies. Games are held almost every Friday and different events are held throughout the year such as Writer's Week, where you get the chance to share with the school and pieces of poetry or stories you've written. There's a variety of different cultures represented as well through Leiden's language classes such as Italian, Spanish, and French. The electives at the school give you many different options to do what you're interested in as well, such as Video Game Design, Drawing, Graphic Design, Culinary Basics, and Construction. Overall, I really appreciated how much there was to offer at this school and how many opportunities they give you to express yourself and become a part of the community there.
