Although I haven't really stepped foot inside East Leyden yet, I have a great feeling about the way the school operates. Being involved in this e-learning world may be super challenging, but the school is visibly trying to make everything work and engage students(through a computer screen). We are learning many new things and the teachers are very helpful throughout this whole process. Teachers, counselors, the principal, and everyone else that works at the school always make sure to let you know that they are here for you if you ever need them, and don't be afraid to ask any questions that you have. I feel that by the end of my high school experience at this school I will be very ready for college. In addition to all of this, there are many clubs and activities available after school which I love to engage in! If you are in need of help there are hours after school in which teachers are available to give you the extra assistance that you may need. East Leyden is a great community!
East Leyden was a very progressive and inclusive school. It provided a safe atmosphere and had dedicated educators always willing to work. I was given various learning opportunities that fulfilled my future career path as a future educator. I was able to work hands-on in a preschool environment and develop a deeper understanding of what it means to be a teacher. Not only were there large elective options, but even the required classes were beneficial or taught in a meaningful way. Several signs stating that each classroom was an LGBTQ+ safe space were spread around the school, and there was even a culture day with food and entertainment from other countries to support culture. Graduating high school and gaining access to post-high school careers/college choices was also made very easy to access. Most were not graduating blind-sided with no guidance from the staff. Overall great experience and a great facility to learn in.
Great school, very safe and enriched with programs and classes for every interest.
Free ACT prep classes, incredible counselors and advisors, options to enroll in dual credit classes (with triton community college), AP classes are challenging but the teachers prepare the students for the tests. Teachers are also flexible and go above and beyond to help their students. Most of the teachers also possess Masters degrees and find creative and unique teaching techniques.
Chrome books were introduced my last year of school, I feel like this prepared me for taking online notes for college classes
